Before We Begin

AI is changing how we work, but it isn't changing what leadership requires.

Artificial intelligence can summarize meetings, analyze data, draft proposals, generate ideas, and answer questions in seconds. These capabilities are remarkable, and they're changing the way we work.

But while AI is changing how work gets done, it isn't changing what leadership requires. In fact, I believe the opposite is true. As AI becomes more capable, the human side of leadership becomes even more important, not less.

The future doesn't belong to leaders who know the most. It belongs to leaders who know how to think, ask better questions, exercise sound judgment, and create the conditions for people to do their best work.

Those are the practices this guide explores.

Inside the Guide

Four practices worth returning to.

Not tips. Practices. Something you do, and keep doing.

Practice One
Think Before You Decide
AI can provide information. Leadership means understanding context and making decisions that reflect your values and responsibilities.
Practice Two
Ask Better Questions
Sometimes the greatest leadership advantage isn't having the answer. It's asking the question that changes everything.
Practice Three
Exercise Sound Judgment
Judgment comes from experience, reflection, integrity, and wisdom. These qualities become more, not less, important in an AI-enabled world.
Practice Four
Create the Conditions for People to Do Their Best Work
Technology can improve efficiency. People create culture, build trust, foster belonging, and inspire one another to grow.
